Michelle Thompson’s high energy, passion and tenacious multi-faceted approach towards her craft make her a formidable, Creative Director and Educator for the Francesco Group and Brand Ambassador for Avlon Europe.
Michelle’s insatiable appetite to create, educate and work with hair means she is highly skilled and creative with “all” hair textures. Excessively curly, wavy, straight, coily, Michelle is dynamic in demonstrating her creativity and educational prowess.
2004, is when Michelle boldly stepped up to the challenge of teaching and she regularly presents courses Internationally including; cutting at all levels from classic to creative and excessively curly/afro hairdressing, including relaxing and styling. Michelle is a natural teacher who enjoys passing on her knowledge and expertise onto to others.
Qualified as an NVQ Assessor and a member of HABIA’s (Hairdressing And Beauty Industry Association) skills team, Michelle is active in raising standards and skill sets within the industry.
As the Creative Director of one of the largest hairdressing group in the UK, Michelle is instrumental in creating; photographic collections, course development and maintaining current, creative standards and trends across the group. This includes standards between 32 salons, 3 training academies and 16 graduate salons within independent Further education colleges across the country.
Michelle has had a wealth of experience in constructing and creating themes for shows. She was the creative director behind the hurricane hair show for Avlon Europe at the Black Beauty &Hair awards in 2009 and the New Classique show at the Sensationell awards 2010. She was the creative director behind the scenes of the South African Big Brother amplified 2011 and 2012.
Michelle’s editorials, expert advice, photographic collections have graced the page of Stylist magazine, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Instyle, Hairdressers Journal, HJ South Africa, Pride and many more.
Michelle has had outstanding success in awards and competitions and has had many nominations and titles the most recent being, the British Hairdressing Awards, Afro Hairdresser of the Year 2015 and Black Beauty & Hair’s Stylist and Colorist of the Year 2015 Awards. Michelle is also in the BB&H hall of Fame for Northern Stylist of the Year for which she won the title 3 consecutive years in a row.
